January 2011: Because of the gracious support of many, Hope and Development was able to purchase some much needed school supplies. Teachers were thrilled to receive class sets of scissors, notebooks, and pencil sharpeners. In addition, the teachers each left our most recent workshop with new posters, visual aids, whiteboard markers, and a plan of action for the year. The new materials mean they feel better prepared to start the school year, and are excited to try new methods of teaching.
In addition to materials, the teachers left the workshop with a clear understanding of what they are teaching, and what students should know at the completion of the year. While this seems simple and logical, it was an area in which our program was previously lacking. We look forward to a successful school year in which students are challenged to make greater achievements.
